Fluid

VR controllers

Fluid concept is born during a long project in collaboration with Big Ben Interactive. The brief was to think about new Playstation VR's controllers.

In pairs, I worked with Charles Périnet, an interaction designer. Together, we decided to focus on intermediate gamers. Interviews and research on users and experts helped us defining needs and guided us on several innovative concepts.

From these findings, we based our work on three essential keywords:

Universality

Controllers need to fit everyone: kids, women, men, right and left handed persons, international understanding.

Natural Interactions

A project based on instinct which offers natural, precise and easy interactions during the gameplay.

Versatility

Controllers need to adapt themselves with the range of gameplays: First Person Shooter (FPS), Adventure games, Racing games...

So we designed a pair of controllers that can combine together and directly influence user's gameplay according to his/her needs.

Using three contact zones on each controllers, we can imagined many positions that will increase the player's immersion.

As proof of concept, Charles developed a VR game using Unity and HTC Vive technology testing our idea.
